2019 Environment Southland Community Awards

Environment Southland wants to recognise and reward your achievements in enhancing our environment.

We know that many community groups, schools, families and individuals are taking action in their own backyards to make a significant difference to their environment. Businesses, farmers and industries are also adopting good environmental practices.

You can nominate yourself or a group/business/farm/school that you’re involved with, or someone else whose activities are benefitting the environment. If you are putting forward someone else, they must agree to being nominated.

ELIGIBILITY
All projects/activities must either be located in the Southland region, have been developed in Southland or be of demonstrable benefit to Southland’s environment. Previous nominees and highly commended nominees may be nominated again. Please note however, that the judges will be looking for significant advances or improvements in ongoing projects that have been considered for an award previously.

CLOSING DATE AND JUDGING
Entries must be received by 5pm Friday 26 July.

Nominees will receive a follow-up call to confirm receipt of the nomination and to discuss the process for judging. Judges will make site visits at a pre-arranged time in August to meet nominees and assess projects and activities.

PRIZES & AWARDS CEREMONY
The winning entries will receive prizes that include cash, travel, and native plants.

All nominee will be invited to attend the award gala dinner to be held on Tuesday 8 October at the Ascot Park Hotel, Invercargill, where the winners will be announced.
